The icon is painted on a round wooden board in authentic Byzantine technique which involves multiple layers of surface preparation before applying paints. The central figure shows Saint Petka in traditional Byzantine style: the saint wears a blue maphorion (veil) over her head and red robes, and holds a triple-barred Orthodox cross in her hand, symbol of her faith and martyrdom. Her figure is set within concentric circles of gold gilding (24-karat gold leaf) that creates spiritual light and dimension characteristic of Byzantine iconography.
On the reverse of the icon is a certificate of authenticity in multiple languages (Serbian, Russian, English) with decorative Byzantine frames, red wax seal, and the title “BYZANTINE ART,” confirming the icon is handpainted according to traditional Byzantine techniques. The icon also has a metal eyelet for wall hanging.
