The prosphora seal is a traditional wooden tool essential for making liturgical bread in the Orthodox Church. Prosphora (Greek: “offering”) is consecrated bread used in the Divine Liturgy – a portion is consecrated and becomes the Eucharist, while the rest is cut up for antidoron, the blessed bread distributed to the faithful at the end of the liturgy. Prosphora is made from two separate round pieces of leavened dough placed one on top of another and baked together to form a single loaf, symbolizing the two natures of Christ: human and divine.
