​The ladanka is a traditional Orthodox protective pouch containing cotton soaked in holy anointing oil or small prayer texts, worn for spiritual protection. This special ladanka has been blessed and consecrated on the holy relics of the Novo-Pochaev Monastery, giving it additional spiritual power. The blue color represents heaven and spirituality, decorated with gold embroidery featuring a monastery motif and laurel leaves. The box states: “Protects from unclean spirits and carries miraculous power from the holy relics upon which it was consecrated. Divine shrine as God’s mercy to humankind – for driving away visible and invisible enemies”.
​The ladanka is worn as a pendant under clothing close to the heart, pinned to garments, or kept in a bag, serving as a constant connection to God’s protection. The characteristic fragrance it emits comes from the holy oil.
